We at Heaton Support Services know that mental wellbeing can affect anyone at any time, and we aim to make a positive difference to their lives.

We use a holistic approach and work with all professionals involved with your care and support to build meaningful links. Management staff have over 60 years collectively working with people suffering with various forms of mental health GAD (Generalised anxiety disorder) PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), Bipolar, personality disorders, and many more, as part of staff induction staff are enrolled on Mental Health L2.

We will develop positives strategies and develop a PBS plan (Positive behaviour support) where needed, and we will create an individual tailored support plan, we aim with support and adjustments that are reasonable we will aim at reducing or preventing anti-social or offending behaviours and will work with health and care services that are available when people who pose a risk to themselves and others in the community.

Having a Mental Health condition may result in that person displaying behaviours that may challenge:

  • Displaying aggression or self-injurious behaviour (that may not be related to mental health) some may have a specific neurodevelopmental syndrome where there is a likelihood of developing behaviours that may challenge
  • Display risky behaviours which put the person or others at risk, displaying sexually inappropriate behaviour, risk of starting fires, are aggressive, this may lead to police involvement and criminal charges, court appearances, and a risk of being detained under the Mental Health act.
  • Often the people involved have a lower level of support or have slipped the net and have not been picked by health care professionals and may come from dis-advantaged/troubled backgrounds where there has been substance misuse.

Heaton Support Services’ approach is one of encouragement and empowerment, putting wellbeing at the front, and always person-centred. We will encourage and support people to take responsibility, and our focus will be on community interaction and social inclusion, activities that help and develop.

We will only place staff with a person who has some knowledge of Mental Health.
