Service details

We at Heaton Support Services, understand how difficult it can be not only for the person, but also family and friends when someone they love has been diagnosed with a condition such as Alzheimer’s or Dementia and the difficulties they have to face, trying to remember things and communicate with others and to complete everyday tasks, unfortunately this is a progressive disease and can have a deteriorating effect on the quality of life of all the people it affects.

There are many different types of Dementia, the most common being Alzheimer’s and Vascular Dementia. Less common are Fronto Temporal Dementia (FTD), Dementia with Lewy Bodies (DLB). There are various factors that may increase the risk of someone developing Dementia, health and lifestyle and ageing genes, most people with Dementia are over 65 years; however, there has been an increase in people being diagnosed with Dementia under 65 years. Dementia is caused by a disease of the brain, and it is not a normal part of ageing. The challenges that our loved ones may face can be complex, day-to-day disorientation. Memory loss is just one of these challenges.

Our care and support staff are trained to a high standard, and one of our assessment managers will come out and complete the initial assessment, from the assessment we will create a personal and individual support plan which meets their needs. We understand that the person will need familiarity, and we will ensure that they have the same staff, this can be a comfort seeing the same people and less confusing, our staff are always compassionate and sympathetic when supporting people, we work consistently to ensure people remain in their own homes, where they feel safe, and can have their loved ones around them for as long as possible.
